Yu, MisookÑ06/10/14Ñ530039

Financial planner and founder of Yu Financial Advice.

Misook was born and raised in South Korea and came to America in 1994 for college. She initially studied computer programming, but after realizing how financial planning can attribute to one’s financial stability through her own experience, she went back to school in 2010 to study finance. With so much passion for personal finance, she studied tirelessly and graduated at the top of the business class with the highest honor, Summa Cum Laude, from University of Missouri, St. Louis. She founded Yu Financial Advice in 2015 to help people who traditionally have been under-served in the financial service industry, which tends to favor the rich.
She married  her husband in 1998, and they are currently living in St. Louis, MO with their two sons.

Fee-only and Fiduciary

Misook Yu does not sell financial products for commission and gets paid only by clients (fee-only), eliminating potential conflict of interest. As a fiduciary, Misook Yu is required by law to act in your best interests, before her own. That distinguishes her from broker agents or insurance agents that do not require the same level of duty to act in the clients’ best interest.

Philosophy

Misook strongly believes in the Golden Rule, treating others the way you want to be treated, and she takes that rule as her business philosophy in practice as a financial planner. When recommending financial products, she makes decisions based on what she would have done for herself if she were in the client’s situation. Having to support herself to come to America for school, and having become a professional in middle-age, she truly understands what it means to achieve financial stability. No matter where you are financially and what your goals may be, she will recommend attainable plans and help you improve your finance. And regardless of the amount of money you have, you can expect to be treated with respect and professionalism at Yu Financial Advice.

Experience & Qualifications

Misook Yu had worked many years for a stock brokerage firm in South Korea, and in the US, she started working in the financial service industry in early 2013 after earning a degree in finance. She has entrepreneurial experience, having previously co-founded two successful companies in America, which is why she understands what saving money means to small business owners, and is so passionate to help them. Misook has passed securities exams Series 7, 65, and 66, and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. To become a CFP® professional, one must obtain education in essential areas of financial planning (investments, retirement planning, insurance, education planning, income taxes, estate planning, and ethics), pass a rigorous 2-day exam, and have experience in financial planning.
